SP's Sustainable Materials​ Definitions Subcommittee has been working to develop straightforward common definitions of key terms related to sustainable materials to minimize duplication of effort and promote consistent approaches in communications with suppliers, sustainability reporting and measuring industry progress.

SP has been collaborating with the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) in the development of these definitions to promote common, consistent language across industry. Currently, common definitions and processes have been developed for measuring the use of recycled content and renewable content in automotive products, and evaluating carbon intensity of automotive materials.

The purpose of this meeting is to reflect on progress made to date with existing guidance and discuss the opportunity to develop additional industry guidance to support consistent evaluation of sustainable materials.
