The Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP) provides a forum for global vehicle manufacturers and their large and small suppliers to work together toward a shared vision of an automotive industry with positive environmental impact.


SP's quarterly membership meetings provide an opportunity for members to connect and share environmental sustainability best practices and strategies with industry peers, learn about emerging issues impacting the environment and their business operations, and identify new opportunities for collaborative action.


This quarterly meeting will include member and guest presentations on environmental best practices and emerging trends, and reports on outcomes of SP Work Groups / Projects. Interactive optional pre-meeting working sessions of SP's responsible battery, sustainable materials, and ESG leadership work groups will be held prior to the general membership meeting. A small group tour of GM's Warren site will also be offered on the morning of April 30.


Registration for this event will close by April 22 or when capacity is reached. Space is limited and this event is expected to reach full capacity.


Networking Dinner: An optional networking dinner will be held at Andiamo Warren (located at7096 E 14 Mile Rd, Warren, MI 48092) on April 30 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. An additional registration fee applies for the dinner, please be sure to select the appropriate option in registration. The dinner registration fee includes two entree selections, fresh garden salad, chef 's cold salad assortment, fresh vegetable, pasta, potato, bread basket, standard bar, coffee or tea and house dessert.


Side Event: A small group hands-on workshop focused on SP's water stewardship project is also being planned in Warren for May 2 (the day after the membership meeting) from 8:00AM - 12:00PM. That workshop will be limited to 25 people and will be targeted to original equipment manufacturers and tiered suppliers. Learn more here.


Travel: The nearest airport is DTW - Detroit. There are a variety of hotel options located within a short drive of the meeting venue. Some of those closest to the venue include: Courtyard Detroit Warren, Holiday Inn & Suites Warren, TownePlace Suites Detroit Warren.


Arrival / Security: The attached map highlights access from Gate 9 on Van Dyke Avenue and provides directions to the designated parking area, the "Manufacturing C Parking Lot," where visitors can park between April 30th and May 2nd. Guests are free to park in any available spot in that parking lot. A daily shuttle service will be available from 7am to 6:30pm, running in a loop. The shuttle pickup location is indicated by a green star on the map, as well as the drop-off location at theCole Engineering Center, where the event will take place.


Upon arrival, visitors are to enter through the main lobby and proceed to security to sign in and wait for a GM host. We recommend that guests arrive at least 30 minutes in advance to allow ample time for parking, taking the shuttle, signing in at security, and other necessary procedures.

    Kevin Butt is the Regional Environmental Sustainability director of Toyota’s North American Environmental Sustainability Programs.     Prior to Butt’s current assignment, he was the general manager/chief environmental and safety officer for Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing for all of Toyota’s Manufacturing operations. Prior to that assignment, Butt served as the assistant general manager of Body Production Engineering for Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America, Inc., (TMMNA). He was responsible for Body Engineering for all Toyota’s North American manufacturing operations. Body Engineering consists of Welding, Stamping, and Painting Operations.

    Butt serves on several boards including the National Wildlife Habitat Council, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation, World Wildlife Fund National Council, North American Great Plains Advisory Board and the Yellowstone Park Foundation Board.

    He has a Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Science from Georgetown College.

    Jeff is known for guiding companies, teams, and boards through periods of business change.

    With Call2Recycle, he is leading the build-out of the organization’s electric transportation battery logistics and recycling efforts that include servicing the electric vehicle, e-bike, e-scooter, electric motorcycle, and electric bus industries. Prior to this role, Jeff was a 7-year board member and chair of the finance committee for Call2Recycle Canada, Inc., the Canadian sister company to Call2Recycle, Inc. out of Atlanta. His first experience working with batteries began in 2012 when employed with Energizer Batteries.

    Earlier companies and industries include automotive aftermarket brands Valvoline motor oil, Zerex antifreeze, and Armor All car care products, along with home improvement brands Weiser door locks and Pfister faucets.

    Jeff has been featured in podcasts, interviewed for blog posts, and contributed to articles on the topic of electric vehicle and e-bike battery logistics & recycling with publications that include Auto Recycling World, Bloomberg, Depollution by Salvage Wire, Driving.ca, Electrek.co, Singletracks.com, Sustainablebiz.ca, and Wired.com.

    He is a sought-after speaker on the topics of EV battery management, EV battery logistics, EV battery safe handling, and EV battery recovery from a vehicle crash scene. Jeff has co-authored three publications:

    Matt oversees The Water Council’s stewardship initiatives including WAVE: Water Stewardship Verified, water stewardship advisory services and comprehensive professional water stewardship training. Previously, TWC helped establish the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) System globally with specific oversight of North America. Matt created the world’s first professional credentialing program for water stewardship professionals and made the business case for use of the International Water Stewardship Standard (“AWS Standard”) in the North American marketplace. His 15+ years in sustainability program development and management include serving as Milwaukee’s sustainability director and leading sustainable manufacturing initiatives during his time in Washington, D.C., where he worked at the U.S. Department of Commerce and as a staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives. He has an MA from George Washington University and a BA from Valparaiso University. He is AWS and Lean Six Sigma accredited and serves on the WELL Water Advisory and the Wisconsin Governor’s Wetlands Study Council. He served on the U.S. EPA’s National Advisory Council on Environmental Policy and Technology from 2014-2019.
