Sustainable materials – opportunities and challenges for the automotive sector

Presenters:

Michael Campbell, Principal Consultant, Sustainable Transport, Ricardo

Andrew Dunwoody, Head of Circular Economy, Ricardo

Join us for a presentation from experts at Ricardo on the opportunities and challenges of adopting circular and sustainable materials in the automotive sector.

Materials are an essential component of your sustainability journey and a future-facing strategy must consider not only the required attributes and impacts of materials but projected automotive market trends and demands.

Ricardo's experts will be sharing the initial findings of a new study on "Demand-led Innovation for the Automotive Sector: Material Requirements for 2030 and Beyond." Conducted on behalf of UKRI's Transforming Foundation Industries (TFI) Challenge, the study engaged with the automotive industry and supply chain to build upon an extensive literature review and identify the challenges of the evolving landscape of automotive material demands. The report explores existing and future demands for automotive materials as well as analyzing the drivers shaping changes in material demand and requirements, and identifies interventions that could support the changes needed to meet those demands.

Ricardo will also share practical case studies and actions for increasing circularity and sustainability for your materials.
